Solar technology has been making huge advances over the last year and it is expected that electricity from photo voltaics will reach grid parity ? its production costs will be the same or less than traditional methods ? in 2012 in Germany. In sunnier regions such as California and Italy grid parity could be achieved even earlier. At the same time innovations in battery technology and drives are coming to market. What impact will this have on our urban traffic?
Bikes have always been an expression of lifestyle, freedom and mobility. From the great motorbike brands to the arrival of mountain bikes they profoundly changed the way we move through the landscape and around our cities. ELMOTO has built on this tradition and designed an electric bike which brings together fun, being outdoors, mobility, social interaction and adventure.
ELMOTO HR-2 is based on a light and high-strength aluminium frame, which transforms the power generated by the engine with almost no loss to acceleration. Thanks to the latest battery technology and a patented electronic drive, ELMOTO can travel up to 65 km (40 miles) before it needs recharging.
The engine is low-maintenance and all electronic elements are well protected to guarantee durability. The bike has an onboard computer which informs the driver about speed, battery status and the cruising range. Depending on battery technology the recharging time is between two and six hours.
The chassis features a special double anti-shock system which provides safe and convenient travel - even if the street gets a little bumpy or you go off-road. The lighting system provides for safe driving day or night.
With its electric motor the ELMOTO is almost silent, it is emission free when used and can be re-charged with electricity from renewable sources. ELMOTO is well designed and an attractive proposition for city dwellers of all ages. The future of mobility is parked around the corner from you.

The figures on grid parity for solar power were announced in Munich on the 26th May 2009 during the Solar Plaza Conference - www.solarplaza.com .
